2010 Christmas in Mexico.

On December 4th, 2010 our post took part in the Annual Christmas in Mexico Parade again this year. Twelve sisters dressed warmly and donned in Santa Hats or Antlers braved the cold and sang Christmas Carols as they marched along the Main Street of Mexico. Sisters Lonnie Dimon and Ashley Henderson carried our Ladies Auxiliary Banner. Commander Russ Marsden, his wife and Auxiliary Sister Char Marsden, Men's Auxiliary Member Carl Spicer and Sister Lonnie Dimon's Son, Curtis followed us in our Army Truck. The Parade Route went from the Village Offices to the Cooperative Extension Building where a beautiful Christmas Tree was Blessed. Prizes were awarded and we received a check for $50. for the (go figure) Most Enthusiastic. Way to go Ladies and Veterans of the VFW!!!!!! Great time was had by all and the Christmas in Mexico grows bigger each year. We are already making plans for next years costumes and / or float.

In conjuction with the Christmas in Mexico our Auxiliary held a Craft Show at the Mexico High School, organized and ran by our Americanism Chairman, Linda Chamberlain. Craft Tables were rented out and the Auxiliary served Chili, Sandwiches, Hot Dogs and Cookies. Over $500 was raised for our General Fund on this Event. The proceeds will fund many of our various projects that we do especially this time of the year. There are so many needy families in and around our community with the economy the way it is.

A beautiful hand tied pink ribbon fleece throw made by Linda Chamberlain was raffled and won by Jean McKee. The proceeds will go to Cancer Aid and Reasearch. Great job Linda and her helpers.
